The Jeep Wrangler Dominated at the Annual "Mudfest" Competition

It's no secret that the Jeep Wrangler is one of the toughest vehicles on the road. Drawing on elements of the original Jeep designed in World War 2, rugged performance has always been a part of its DNA. In 2018, Jeep's designers produced what many have dubbed the best Wrangler yet, updating the vehicle with a passenger-friendly interior while maintaining its dedication to all-terrain versatility.

If you need proof, look no further than the Northwest Automotive Press Association "Mudfest" competition. Held annually, the Mudfest tests the performance of the market's toughest vehicles. Even put against a bevy of strong contenders, the 2018 Wrangler took top honors. The competition's judges named it the "Northwest Outdoor Activity Vehicle of the Year."

"Jeep has taken the Wrangler to a new level, adding safety, technology, and on-road refinement to its unparalleled off-road prowess," said NWAPA president John Vincent, in a statement. "NWAPA members were impressed by the Wrangler’s performance both on and off the road."

The Wrangler also earned recognition in the Compact and Mid-Size Utility class, as well as the Extreme Capability category. What exactly earned the Wrangler such high praise? You can take your pick. Its larger design offers more interior space. The new model now also integrates popular infotainment features that have been absent from previous models. Perhaps best of all, the 2018 Wrangler now offers a powerful inline-4 engine. Providing more pounds-feet of torque than its classic Pentastar V6, it's proven a popular addition for many drivers.
