Lifting the hood, you'll uncover a two-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine with an electric motor taking the place of the traditional alternator. The second electric motor is found inside the Wrangler 4xe's TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission in replacement of the torque converter. These electric motors are powered by a 17.3-kilowatt-hour rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack. This setup gives the Wrangler 4xe a heart-pounding 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. In addition to this power, the Wrangler 4xe comes with virtually no range anxiety, thanks to the turbocharged engine that can run the vehicle when the battery is out of charge. To limit range anxiety even further, the Wrangler 4xe comes with Hybrid, E-Save, and electric drive modes. While Jeep's full-time Selec-Trac 4x4 system is standard for the Wrangler 4xe, the Rubicon trim comes with Rock-Trac 4x4 with a 4:1 transfer case gear ratio.

A key component of the Wrangler Rubicon 4xe is the Rock-Trac 4x4 transfer case, delivering a 4:1 gear ratio. This means that for every four rotations of the transmission output shaft, the wheels will rotate once, delivering high torque at low speeds for optimal performance on steep, rugged terrain. The Wrangler Rubicon 4xe also makes off-roading a breeze with a Dana 44 full-float rear axle, 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac all-terrain tires, an electronically disconnecting front sway bar, locking differentials, and much more. All-new for the Wrangler 4xe lineup is the Wrangler Rubicon X 4xe, which takes the regular Rubicon to new heights with 35-inch BFGoodrich all-terrain tires, rugged winch-capable steel bumpers, an available WARN winch, and a forward-facing off-road trail camera.
