Under the Power Wagon's Hood
The 2017 Ram Power Wagon is equipped with a standard 6.4-liter Hemi V-8 engine and is the largest and most powerful gasoline engine in the HD truck segment. This engine is able to produce up to 410 horsepower and 429 lb.-ft of torque and utilizes a variable valve timing and cylinder deactivation in order to keep the amount of fuel consumption efficient. There is also the heavy-duty 66RFE six-speed automatic transmission which is the only choice of gearbox, but offers manual control over the gear selection. There is also the Bog Warner BW 44-47 two speed manually controlled transfer case. Also, the engine, transmission, and transfer case all communicate with each other in order to deliver a premier performance. The Power Wagon utilizes solid axles located on the front and rear from the American Axle Manufacturing. The axle shafts measure out to about 38 mm thick which promises to last no matter how hard you beat them up.
Design of Ram Power Wagon
The 2017 Ram Power Wagon has an interior that is similar to the previous model year because quite frankly if it is not broken, why fix it? With that being said, there are a bunch of updates to the interior, as well. These updates features the tread pattern from the Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac all-terrain tires that are fitted to the Wagon and there are now Power Wagon logos that run down the seatbacks. If logos are too much for you then you can always opt for the standard vinyl or the optional cloth seats. There is also a standard 40/20/40 front bench seat with a folding center console and the rear bench seats add enough seating for three additional passengers. The Power Wagon also comes standard with an 8.4-inch Uconnect system with navigation and a seven-inch TFT display located on the driver's gauge cluster. A noticeable change for the 2017 Power Wagon would have to be it's grille. Now the grille shares a similar shape as the Ram 1500 Rebel with a double-hooped design with the "RAM" logo spelled out in massive satin chrome letters. There are also 17-inch aluminum wheels with black spokes that replace the all-chrome five-spoke wheels. Additional new graphics packages include a vertical Power Wagon logo along the leading edge of the cargo bed and a "4x4" emblem that is located between the rear tires and taillights. There is also another Power Wagon logo at the back that stretches across the tailgate under the large "RAM" logo. An optional feature is the Ram Box that is located on the bed walls and makes for a handy storage spot. Also optional is the camera that would be located in the center high-mounted stoplight and allows for you to keep watch on your cargo or easily hook up a fifth-wheel trailer from the Uconnect infotainment screen.
The 2017 Ram Power Wagon will include many standard safety features. These safety featuers include antilock disc brakes, front-seat and side curtain airbags, stability control, traction control, and a tire-pressure monitoring system. There are available power-adjustable pedals for most models and a rearview camera is available across all trims.
